2005 Outstanding National State School Nurse Consultant
Cheryl Resha has made significant contributions in school nursing on the national, state, and local levels since becoming the Connecticut state school nurse consultant in 2000. Nationally, she is currently the President-Elect and past Treasurer of the National Association of State School Nurse Consultants (NASSNC). She is also the NASSNC Program chair and the co-chair of the Internet committee and the representative on the National Association of School Nurses Task Force on HIPAA. Cheryl is also the co-leader of the national American Psychological Association’s Healthy Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Questioning Youth Project and a member of the CDC Joint Work Group for the LGBQ Youth. On the state and local level Cheryl works closely with the Connecticut State School Nurse Association as well as the Connecticut Coordinated School Health Partnership (CSHP) providing leadership and technical assistance to schools regarding school nursing services through the development of policy and initiatives to improve the health and learning of all students. Cheryl is a lifelong learner, striving to lead school nursing, and is in the process of completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT. Cheryl’s contribution to promote and enhance school nursing practice through her professional affiliations, legislative and policy initiatives, practice issues, written work and publications define her dedication and commitment to the health of children and to school nursing. Her leadership, clear vision for student health and wellness, dedication and professionalism make her a well respected leader and the award winner for the “Outstanding State School Nurse Consultant for 2005”. |
